• Ensure the patient is seated comfortably with their arm supported at heart level. Avoid caffeine or exercise for 30 minutes prior. Remove or loosen clothing on the upper arm. — Prepare for Measurement
• Wrap the adult cuff snugly around the upper arm, ensuring the artery indicator aligns with the brachial artery. The index range should show the cuff is appropriately sized for the arm. — Apply the Cuff Correctly
• Close the screw-type valve on the bulb. Squeeze the bulb to inflate the cuff until the needle on the gauge reaches about 30 mmHg above the expected systolic pressure. Then, slowly open the valve to deflate. — Inflate and Deflate
• Listen for the Korotkoff sounds with a stethoscope (not included) and note the pressure at which the first sound is heard (systolic) and the point at which sounds disappear (diastolic). Record the readings. — Read and Record
