How to choose a feeler gauge set?

Choose a feeler gauge set based on the required measurement range and precision. For automotive applications like spark plug gaps and valve clearances, a set with metric and SAE measurements, such as the OEMTOOLS 12-Blade set, is versatile. Consider blade length and angle for reaching tight spaces. Hardened steel construction ensures durability for demanding tasks.

What is the measurement range of the OEMTOOLS 12-Blade Feeler Gauge Set?

The OEMTOOLS 12-Blade Feeler Gauge Set covers a range from 0.008 inch (0.203 mm) to 0.26 inch (0.660 mm). This range includes 12 distinct blade sizes, clearly marked in both SAE and metric units, ensuring you have the right size for most automotive and motorcycle gap measurements.

Are the blades on this feeler gauge set angled?

Yes, the blades on the OEMTOOLS 12-Blade Feeler Gauge Set are angled with a 30-degree offset. This design is crucial for reaching and measuring gaps in difficult-to-access areas, such as inside engine cylinders or around spark plugs, without bending the blades or requiring excessive force.

What material are the feeler gauge blades made of?

The feeler gauge blades are constructed from hardened and tempered steel. This material ensures they are durable enough to withstand the wear and tear associated with automotive repair and precise measurement tasks, preventing breakage and maintaining their accuracy over time.

Can I use this feeler gauge set for motorcycle maintenance?

Yes, this feeler gauge set is suitable for motorcycle maintenance. Its versatility in measuring small gaps, combined with the durable, angled blades, makes it effective for tasks like checking valve clearances and other precise measurements common in motorcycle repair.

Why choose this product

Precision Measurement for Critical Gaps

The OEMTOOLS 25304 Feeler Gauge Set is engineered for mechanics and technicians who demand accuracy. Its hardened steel blades, precisely angled and marked in both metric and SAE, ensure you can measure tight clearances like spark plug gaps and valve tappets with confidence. Unlike generic tools, this set's offset design allows access to difficult areas without bending, maintaining blade integrity and measurement accuracy. Imported directly, it offers a reliable solution for precise automotive and motorcycle maintenance, ensuring your engine components are set to exact specifications.

Ideal for Mechanics, Skip if You Need Digital Readout

This feeler gauge set is perfect for automotive repair, motorcycle maintenance, and general mechanical work requiring precise gap measurements. It is ideal for anyone needing to check spark plug gaps, valve clearances, or other tight tolerances. However, if you require a digital readout with a zero-set function or automatic unit switching between metric and inches, this analog set may not be suitable. For those applications, consider a digital caliper or micrometer.

How to use

Select Blade Size — Identify the required gap measurement from your vehicle's service manual. Choose the corresponding feeler blade from the set, noting the clear metric or SAE markings.
Insert Blade — Gently insert the selected feeler blade into the gap (e.g., between the spark plug electrodes or valve stem and rocker arm). The blade should slide with slight drag, indicating a snug but not forced fit.
Adjust and Verify — If the fit is too loose or too tight, adjust the component (e.g., valve tappet or spark plug gap). Repeat insertion with the same or a different blade until the correct drag is achieved.
Clean and Store — After use, wipe the blades clean to prevent corrosion. Loosen the thumb notch on the gauge to easily remove or store the blade, keeping the set organized for future use.
