The Science Behind M. Graham Artist Oil Paints
M. Graham & Co. Artist Oil Paints are meticulously crafted in small batches, prioritizing pigment purity and brilliance. The unique dispersion of artists' pigments in pure American walnut oil, rather than traditional drying oils, significantly increases pigment load. This results in extraordinary color saturation, depth, and a naturally alive brilliance that resists discoloration over time. The solvent-free formulation ensures a safer studio environment, while the Lightfast Rating I guarantees permanence. This commitment to quality means you get more vibrant, richer colors that maintain their integrity, offering a superior painting experience for fine art applications.
Who Should Choose This Paint & Who Should Consider Alternatives
This oil paint is ideal for professional artists, art students, and serious hobbyists seeking high-pigment, solvent-free oil colors with excellent lightfastness and transparency. It's perfect for detailed work, glazing, and achieving rich, saturated hues. Artists sensitive to solvents will find this walnut oil base a comfortable alternative. However, if you require extremely slow-drying paints for extended blending times or are working on surfaces not suitable for oil paints (like untreated paper), you might consider mediums designed for those specific needs. For quick, everyday crafts where permanence isn't critical, student-grade acrylics might be a more economical choice.
