How to choose the right grit sandpaper for my project?

For coarse sanding like paint removal or shaping rough wood, start with lower grits (40-80). For smoothing, use medium grits (120-180). For finishing before paint or sealant, use fine grits (220-400+). This 60-grit pack is excellent for initial material removal.

Will these 3M sandpaper sheets fit my orbital or palm sander?

Fit depends on sheet size and attachment type. These sheets are 9x11 inches (22.86cm x 27.94cm) and can be cut to size for power sanders. Ensure the sheet dimensions and backing type (paper) match your sander's pad and clamp system. Check that any dust-extraction hole pattern aligns with your sander's ports.

What is the best way to use 60-grit sandpaper?

Use 60-grit sandpaper for aggressive material removal, such as stripping old paint, smoothing rough-sawn lumber, or preparing metal surfaces. Always sand in the direction of the wood grain. For best results, follow up with finer grits to achieve your desired finish.

Can I use these sandpaper sheets for wet sanding?

These 3M sandpaper sheets have a paper backing and are primarily designed for dry sanding. While they can be used for light wet sanding on some materials, prolonged exposure to moisture may degrade the paper backing and adhesive, reducing their effectiveness and lifespan.

Why choose this product

Consistent Performance for Indian Projects

3M's 60-grit sandpaper delivers reliable coarse sanding for projects across India. Unlike some local brands that may have inconsistent grit application or backing strength, 3M ensures each sheet performs predictably. Use it for initial paint stripping, shaping wood, or preparing metal surfaces. The durable aluminum oxide cuts efficiently, reducing your working time. Imported directly, you receive authentic quality without worrying about customs delays or hidden charges. All duties and GST are pre-paid, making your purchase transparent and straightforward.

Ideal for Woodworking & Metal Prep, Skip if Sensitive to Paper Backing

This sandpaper is perfect for woodworkers, DIY enthusiasts, and metal fabricators needing a coarse grit for initial shaping and surface preparation. It excels at removing old paint, smoothing rough wood edges, or preparing metal for finishing. However, individuals requiring extreme flexibility or wet sanding applications might find the paper backing less suitable than cloth-backed alternatives. If you have sensitive skin, consider wearing gloves and a mask, as with any sanding task.

How to use

Select Your Sanding Method — Choose to use the sandpaper by hand for small areas, attach it to a sanding block for larger flat surfaces, or cut it to fit your power sander's pad.
Prepare the Surface — If sanding wood, always follow the direction of the wood grain. For initial sanding, use the 60-grit for aggressive material removal. Avoid skipping more than one grit in your sanding sequence to prevent deep scratches.
Sand and Clean — Apply even pressure and sand the surface until the desired smoothness is achieved. Periodically brush away dust or use a vacuum. For best results, follow up with finer grit sandpaper.
