Gradually add denatured alcohol (not included) to the flakes, stirring until fully dissolved to achieve your preferred consistency for brushing or spraying.
• Prepare Your Surface — Ensure the wood surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, or old finishes. Sand lightly if necessary to create a smooth base. For best adhesion, work in a well-ventilated area, away from extreme humidity or direct heat.
• Apply the Shellac Finish — Apply the dissolved shellac solution evenly using a high-quality brush, pad (for French polishing), or spray gun. Apply thin coats, allowing each to dry to a luster before applying the next. Multiple thin coats build a more durable and attractive finish.
• Allow to Cure — Let the final coat dry completely. Shellac dries to the touch quickly, but allow at least 12-24 hours for full curing before handling the piece extensively or applying other finishes. Store any unused dissolved shellac in an airtight container.
