• Prepare the Plastic Part — Ensure your plastic part has a pre-designed hole or boss slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the heat set insert you intend to use. Clean the area to remove any debris.
• Heat the Soldering Iron — Select the appropriate tip for your insert size and attach it to the 60W soldering iron. Set the temperature between 180℃-500℃, typically around 200-250℃ for PLA/PETG, and allow it to heat up fully.
• Insert the Brass Nut — Place the brass threaded insert into the pre-drilled hole. Align the heated soldering iron tip with the insert and apply gentle, steady pressure. The heat will melt the plastic, allowing the insert to seat flush.
• Cool and Secure — Once the insert is seated, remove the soldering iron and allow the plastic to cool and solidify around the insert. This creates a strong, permanent metal thread ready for use.
