What is the difference between pure nickel and other electric guitar strings?

Pure nickel strings, like DR PURE BLUES, offer a warmer, rounder tone with rich overtones and a vintage feel compared to steel or nickel-plated steel strings, which tend to be brighter. This makes them ideal for blues and classic rock.

Are DR Strings PURE BLUES suitable for Indian climate?

While uncoated, pure nickel strings can be affected by high humidity over time, DR Strings are known for their durability. For extended longevity in humid Indian conditions, proper storage of spare sets in sealed pouches is recommended. They offer a classic tone that is worth the care.

What is the gauge of DR Strings PURE BLUES?

The DR Strings PURE BLUES set is a Heavy gauge, with string sizes ranging from .011 for the high E string to .050 for the low E string. This gauge provides good tension for sustain and stability.

Can I use DR Strings PURE BLUES for metal music?

While these strings offer great sustain and punch, their warm, vintage tone is best suited for blues and classic rock. For extremely bright, modern metal tones or very fast, aggressive playing, players might prefer lighter gauges or different string materials.

How long do DR Strings PURE BLUES last?

Uncoated pure nickel strings typically last several months with regular playing, depending on playing style and humidity. Their warm tone is consistent, and they resist corrosion better than some alternatives, though proper storage is key in humid Indian climates.

What is the difference between round core and hex core strings?

Round core strings, used in DR PURE BLUES, generally offer more flexibility and a warmer tone than hex core strings, which provide more stability and a brighter sound. The round core contributes to the vintage feel and sustain of these strings.

Why choose this product

Authentic USA Tone for Indian Musicians

DR Strings PURE BLUES capture the legendary sound of American blues and rock. Imported directly from authorized US retailers, these pure nickel strings offer a warm, vintage tone with rich overtones that Indian musicians seek for authentic expression. Unlike local alternatives that may compromise on material quality or tonal character, these strings provide a superior, consistent sound, ensuring your guitar sings with the classic voice you desire. All customs and GST duties are pre-paid, so you receive genuine USA-sourced quality without import hassles.

Ideal for Blues & Classic Rock, Not for Extreme Metal

These heavy gauge (11-50) pure nickel strings are perfect for blues, classic rock, and vintage-style playing, offering warmth, sustain, and smooth feel. However, players seeking extremely bright, modern tones or ultra-light gauges for fast, aggressive metal playing might find them less suitable. For those needing a brighter, crisper sound or lighter tension, consider different string types or gauges.

How to use

Remove Old Strings — Carefully detune and remove the old strings from your electric guitar, ensuring you don't damage the bridge or tuning pegs. Clean the fretboard and body while the strings are off.
Install New Strings — Thread the new DR Strings PURE BLUES through the bridge and up to the tuning posts. For the low E string (0.050), ensure it's securely anchored at the bridge before winding.
Tune and Stretch — Bring each string up to pitch gradually. Once tuned, gently stretch each string by pulling it away from the fretboard a few times. Retune as needed until the strings hold their pitch.
Fine-tune and Play — Allow the strings to settle for a short period, then retune. Make final adjustments to intonation if necessary. Your guitar is now ready to deliver that classic blues and rock tone.
