• Prepare the Anchor — Unfold the SEACHOICE grapnel anchor and ensure all four flukes are fully extended. Lock the anchor in the open position by ensuring the central collar is firmly seated against the base of the flukes.
• Attach Anchor Line — Securely tie a strong anchor line (rode) to the top ring of the anchor. Use a sufficient length of line; a general rule is a 5:1 scope ratio (5 feet of line for every 1 foot of water depth).
• Deploy and Set — Lower the anchor gently to the seabed. Once the anchor is on the bottom, slowly motor or drift back to set the flukes firmly into the substrate. Avoid dropping the anchor rapidly, as this can prevent it from setting properly.
• Retrieve and Store — To retrieve, pull the anchor line sharply to disengage the flukes. Once aboard, rinse the anchor with fresh water if possible. Fold the anchor by pushing the flukes inward towards the shank and securing the collar.
