• Prepare Your Dye Bath — Fill a container, sink, or washing machine with enough hot water to allow fabric to move freely. Add Rit Dye according to package directions for your fabric type and desired color intensity.
• Dye Your Fabric — Immerse your pre-wetted fabric into the dye bath. Stir continuously for 20-30 minutes to ensure even color penetration. For washing machine use, follow machine dyeing instructions.
• Apply ColorStay Fixative — Immediately after dyeing, remove fabric from the dye bath. In a separate container or directly in the washing machine, add Rit ColorStay Dye Fixative according to its instructions (typically 1 bottle per 10 lbs of fabric). Rinse fabric in cold water.
• Rinse and Wash — Rinse the fabric in cold water until the water runs clear. Then, wash the dyed item in hot water with a mild detergent to remove any excess dye and set the color permanently. Dry as usual.
