How to choose the best MERV rating for my HVAC system?

For general household dust and lint, MERV 8 is sufficient. MERV 11–13, like this ProShield filter, captures finer particles such as pollen, mold spores, and pet dander, ideal for allergy sufferers. Ensure your HVAC system's blower can handle the increased airflow resistance of a higher MERV filter; check your system's manual or consult a professional if unsure.

What is the actual size of the ProShield 16x16x1 filter?

The nominal size is 16x16x1 inches, but the actual dimensions are 15.75x15.75x0.75 inches (40.01x40.01x1.91 cm). This slight difference ensures a snug fit within standard 16x16x1 inch filter slots, creating a tight seal to prevent air bypass and maximize filtration efficiency.

How often should I replace these ProShield MERV 13 filters?

ProShield recommends replacing each filter every 3 months. With this 6-pack, you receive a total of 18 months of filtration, providing consistent clean air for your home. Regular replacement is crucial for maintaining optimal HVAC performance and air quality.

Are these ProShield filters suitable for Indian homes?

Yes, these filters are suitable for central AC systems and ducted split units common in Indian homes. While central furnaces are less common, the MERV 13 rating helps capture airborne dust and allergens prevalent in many Indian cities. All customs duties and GST are included, with tracked delivery to your pincode.

What does MERV 13 mean for air quality?

MERV 13 indicates a high level of filtration efficiency, capturing approximately 90% of particles in the 1-3 micron range. This includes fine dust, pollen, mold spores, and pet dander, which are common indoor air pollutants. Using a MERV 13 filter significantly improves the air you breathe compared to lower-rated filters.

Can I use these filters in my existing furnace?

Yes, these filters are designed for use in standard furnaces and air conditioners. The nominal size is 16x16x1 inches, with actual dimensions ensuring a proper fit. Always confirm your system's compatibility with a MERV 13 filter to ensure optimal airflow and performance.

Why choose this product

Superior Air Quality with MERV 13

ProShield filters use advanced MERV 13 rated synthetic media to capture 90% of microscopic particles down to 1-3 microns. This level of filtration is crucial for trapping allergens like pollen, pet dander, and fine dust that can impact respiratory health. Unlike basic filters, MERV 13 offers a significant upgrade in air purity, creating a healthier living space. Imported from authorized US retailers, these filters ensure you receive a high-performance product designed for optimal indoor air quality.

Ideal for Allergy Sufferers vs. Basic Filters

These MERV 13 filters are highly recommended for households with allergy sufferers, asthmatics, or those concerned about fine airborne particles. They effectively reduce common indoor allergens. If you currently use a basic fiberglass filter or a MERV 6-8 filter, upgrading to this MERV 13 will noticeably improve air quality. However, if your HVAC system is very old or has a low-capacity blower, consult your manual before installing a higher-rated filter to ensure it doesn't restrict airflow excessively.

How to use

Locate Filter Slot — Find the air filter slot on your furnace, air handler, or return air duct. It's usually a rectangular opening with a removable cover or door.
Remove Old Filter — Note the airflow direction arrow on your old filter. Carefully slide it out, observing its size and thickness for reference.
Insert New Filter — Orient the new ProShield filter so the airflow arrow points in the same direction as the old one (towards the furnace/air handler). Slide the new filter into the slot until it fits snugly.
Secure and Operate — Close and secure the filter cover or door. Turn on your HVAC system and enjoy cleaner, healthier air. Replace every 3 months for optimal performance.
