• Wearing gloves, mix the Jacquard Procion MX Deep Purple powder dye with tap water in a plastic or glass container. Use approximately 2/3 oz dye per 1 lb of dry fabric. Stir until fully dissolved. For best results, add a soda ash fixative (sold separately) to the dye bath or pre-treat fabric with it. — Prepare Dye Solution
• Pre-wash fabric to remove sizing. For tie-dye or batik, apply the dye solution to dry fabric or pre-soaked fabric treated with soda ash. For immersion dyeing, add the dissolved dye and fixative to a plastic bucket or washing machine with the fabric. — Prepare Fabric & Dye
• For tie-dye and direct application, wrap dyed items in plastic wrap or place in a plastic bag to keep moist for 6-24 hours. For immersion dyeing, allow fabric to soak in the dye bath for 6-24 hours, stirring occasionally for even color. — Allow Dye to Set
• Rinse the dyed fabric in cold water until the water runs clear. Then, wash in hot water with a mild detergent to remove excess dye. Dry as usual. The color is permanent and washfast. — Rinse and Wash
