• Prepare Your Surface — Ensure your paper or chosen surface is ready for pastel application. For best results, use a surface with some tooth to hold the pastel particles, such as pastel paper or watercolor paper.
• Apply Color — Use Sofft Tools (sponges, knives, covers) to pick up color directly from the pan. Apply to the surface with light pressure, building up color intensity as needed for your desired effect.
• Blend and Mix — Blend colors directly on the surface using clean Sofft Tools or by layering different PanPastel colors. Achieve smooth gradations and create new color mixes by blending dry colors like paint.
• Fix and Finish — Once satisfied, you can fix the artwork with a pastel fixative spray to prevent smudging. PanPastels are fully erasable before fixing, allowing for corrections and adjustments.
