Is this OXO Good Grips wooden turner set safe for non-stick pans?

Yes, the OXO Good Grips wooden turner set is specifically designed to be safe for all non-stick cookware. The smooth beechwood surface prevents scratches and damage, ensuring the longevity of your pans. This makes them a preferred choice over metal utensils for delicate cooking surfaces.

What is the difference between the three tools in the set?

The set includes a standard Turner for general flipping and lifting, a Slotted Turner ideal for draining grease from items like burgers or grilled cheese, and a Saute Paddle perfect for scraping up browned bits and chopping food directly in the pan.

How do I care for these wooden turners?

These wooden turners require hand washing only with mild soap and water. It is important to dry them thoroughly after washing to prevent the wood from warping or cracking. Avoid placing them in the dishwasher, as high heat and prolonged moisture can damage the wood and its finish.

Are these wooden turners suitable for high-heat grilling?

While the beechwood is sturdy and safe for non-stick cookware, it is best suited for stovetop cooking or moderate grilling temperatures. For intense, direct flame contact on charcoal grills or cast iron, a metal turner might offer greater heat resistance and durability. However, for general grilling tasks like flipping burgers, they perform well.

How long is the handle on the OXO Good Grips wooden turners?

The handles are designed to be large and comfortable for a secure grip. While specific length isn't provided in inches, they offer ample reach for most stovetop cooking and grilling tasks, keeping your hands a safe distance from heat sources. The design allows for effective leverage when turning foods.

Why choose this product

Crafted for Durability and Gentle Cooking

OXO Good Grips tools are engineered for lasting performance. This set utilizes solid, one-piece FSC-certified beechwood, chosen for its natural strength and resistance to heat. The natural oil finish protects the wood, ensuring it remains sturdy and functional for years. Unlike many local options that may use lower-grade wood or composite materials, this set offers a premium feel and reliable performance. The straight-sided design effectively reaches into pan corners, making it versatile for flipping, sauteing, and scraping. All customs duties and GST are included in the price, offering a transparent purchase experience.

Ideal for Home Cooks, Skip if You Need Metal

This set is perfect for home cooks who prioritize gentle cooking on non-stick surfaces and appreciate the natural aesthetic and feel of wood. It's excellent for everyday tasks like sauteing vegetables, flipping pancakes, or turning burgers. However, if you require tools for extremely high-heat searing directly on cast iron or metal grills where a thin metal edge is essential for lifting stubborn bits, you might consider a dedicated metal turner set. These wooden tools are hand-wash only and not suitable for dishwashers.

How to use

Select the Right Turner — Choose the Slotted Turner for draining grease from burgers or grilled cheese, the standard Turner for general flipping and lifting, or the Saute Paddle for scraping and chopping directly in the pan.
Cook and Flip Gently — Use the turners on non-stick cookware or surfaces. Slide the edge under food gently to lift and flip, ensuring not to scratch or damage the cooking surface. The natural wood is kind to delicate coatings.
Clean and Store Properly — After use, hand wash the turners with mild soap and warm water. Dry them thoroughly immediately after washing. Store them using the hanging loop for easy access and to keep your kitchen tidy.
