• Determine Gate Swing and Handedness — Confirm your gate swings outwards and whether it's a right or left-hand application. This latch is designed for out-swing gates and is reversible for both orientations. Identify where the strike plate will mount – on the gate or the post.
• Mount the Strike Plate — Position the strike plate on the gate or post at the height where the latch bolt will engage smoothly when the gate is closed. Use the included mounting screws to securely attach the strike plate to the surface.
• Install the Latch Mechanism — Align the latch mechanism with the strike plate and mark the screw holes. Securely attach the latch mechanism to the gate or post using the provided mounting screws. Test the automatic latching action by closing the gate.
• Add Padlock for Security (Optional) — If additional security is required, insert a compatible padlock through the designated hole in the latch mechanism. Ensure the padlock does not obstruct the latch's automatic operation.
