What is the difference between Tortex Jazz III XL and standard Tortex picks?

Tortex Jazz III XL picks offer the speed, precision, and definition of the Jazz III shape but in a larger size with a 1.35mm heavy gauge. They retain the bright Tortex tone and matte grip but provide a more substantial feel for players who prefer heavier picks for control.

Are these Jim Dunlop picks suitable for Indian humidity?

Yes, the Delrin material and matte finish of Tortex picks are known for their durability and grip, which hold up well even in humid conditions. Unlike some softer materials, they maintain their shape and attack without becoming overly slick.

What is the best pick gauge for beginners in India?

For beginners, a medium gauge (around 0.73mm) is often recommended for versatility. However, these 1.35mm heavy gauge Tortex Jazz III XL picks are excellent for players focusing on lead guitar and seeking a strong attack and precise control from the start.

Can I use these Tortex Jazz III XL picks for strumming?

While optimized for lead playing due to their heavy gauge and precise attack, these 1.35mm picks can be used for strumming. They will produce a strong, clear tone. For lighter, more flexible strumming, a thinner gauge pick might offer a different feel.

How does the Tortex material compare to nylon or celluloid picks?

Tortex (Delrin) offers a bright, snappy tone with superior memory and durability compared to celluloid. It has a unique matte grip, unlike the smoother surface of celluloid or the slightly grippier but often softer feel of nylon. Tortex provides a consistent attack and feel.

What is the advantage of buying a 72-pack of guitar picks?

A 72-pack offers significant value and convenience. It ensures you have a consistent supply of your preferred pick gauge and type, reducing the need for frequent purchases and guaranteeing you always have a reliable pick on hand for practice or performance.

Why choose this product

Engineered for Performance

Jim Dunlop's Tortex Jazz III XL picks are not just accessories; they are precision tools. Developed from Delrin with a unique treatment process, they offer superior memory, durability, and an aggressive attack that sets them apart. The matte surface enhances grip, preventing slippage during fast playing. This commitment to quality ensures a consistent, bright tone and reliable performance that has made Tortex a global standard for guitarists across all genres.

Ideal for Lead Guitarists, Consider Alternatives If...

These 1.35mm heavy gauge picks are perfect for lead guitarists who need control, precision, and a strong attack for solos and fast runs. If you prefer a very flexible pick for light strumming or a warmer, mellower tone, a thinner gauge (e.g., 0.60mm) or a celluloid pick might be more suitable. Players with extremely sensitive fingertips might find the aggressive attack of Tortex slightly sharp initially.

How to use

Select Your Pick — Choose a Jim Dunlop Tortex Jazz III XL pick from the 72-pack. The 1.35mm gauge is ideal for players seeking a heavy pick for control and a strong attack.
Grip Securely — Hold the pick between your thumb and index finger, utilizing the matte surface for a firm, comfortable grip. Ensure it feels secure for precise movements.
Play with Precision — Use the pick's edge to strike the guitar strings. The Tortex material and Jazz III shape are designed for speed, articulation, and a bright, snappy tone, perfect for lead playing.
Store for Longevity — Keep unused picks in their original packaging or a pick case to protect them from dust and humidity, ensuring their consistent performance and grip over time.
