What is the main difference between a lever harp and a pedal harp?

Lever harps use individual hand-operated sharping levers above each string to shift pitch by a semitone, making them lightweight and ideal for folk, Celtic, and early classical repertoire. Pedal harps use foot pedals connected to internal mechanisms to change pitch across all octaves simultaneously, which is required for advanced chromatic orchestral pieces.

How should I maintain and tune a harp in Indian climate conditions?

Tune the instrument gradually using the supplied tuning key, tuning in small increments to avoid snapping strings under tension. Protect the solid wood body by keeping the harp away from direct air conditioner drafts, radiators, and damp walls, storing it inside a padded gig bag when idle.

Are these INKNOTE harp strings suitable for beginners?

Yes, these INKNOTE harp strings are explicitly recommended for beginners, as well as intermediate players and performers. They offer a clear, warm tone and are made from durable brass-plated metal, providing a good playing experience for those learning the instrument.

Who It's For vs. Who Should Skip It

This INKNOTE string set is perfect for beginner harpists, intermediate players, and seasoned performers seeking reliable replacement strings and rivets. It's ideal for those who value a clear, warm tone and durable construction. However, professional orchestral harpists requiring specific tension or complex pedal mechanisms might need to consider full-size pedal harps. If you require strings for a non-standard instrument or have specific gauge requirements beyond typical lyre harps, please verify compatibility.

How to use

Identify String — Each INKNOTE replacement string is clearly labeled. Match the label to the corresponding string position on your lyre harp to ensure correct placement and tuning.
Install String — Carefully attach the new string to the tuning pin and the soundboard bridge. Ensure the string is securely fastened at both ends to prevent slippage during tuning.
Tune Gradually — Using the appropriate tuning key, gradually tune the string to the desired pitch. Avoid overtightening, especially in India's variable climate, to prevent string breakage.
Use Rivets for Repair — If needed, use the included brass-plated rivets for minor repairs or to secure string ends. Ensure they are firmly in place to maintain string tension and sound quality.
