What surfaces can this Gorilla sealant be used on?

This sealant is designed for a variety of surfaces including metal, concrete, wood, aluminum, brick, tile, fabric, and glass. Always ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free of grease or oil before application for optimal adhesion. Test on plastics and rubbers as compatibility can vary.

Is this sealant water-based or solvent-based, and how many coats are needed?

This is a flexible, rubberized coating spray, primarily solvent-based with a flammable aerosol propellant. Multiple coats are recommended to ensure all cracks and holes are filled for a watertight seal. Allow adequate cure time between coats and before exposing to water.

Will this sealant work in India's humid climate?

Yes, the sealant is temperature and UV resistant, designed for lasting repairs. While it seals out moisture, ensure proper application and cure time, especially in high humidity, to achieve optimal watertight performance. It's suitable for use between 10°C and 49°C.

Can I paint over the Gorilla Waterproof Patch & Seal Spray?

Yes, the dried sealant is paintable. It works with both latex and oil-based paints. For oil-based paints, it is recommended to use a primer first before painting to ensure better adhesion and a smoother finish.

What are the side effects or concerns with using this sealant?

The spray contains a flammable aerosol propellant and may cause skin or eye irritation. Ensure adequate ventilation during use and avoid spraying near open flames or heat sources. Some users reported a slight smell during drying, which dissipates after full cure. It's not for continuous submersion or gaps larger than 1/4 inch.

How long does the Gorilla sealant last?

When applied correctly and cured, the rubberized coating is temperature and UV resistant, providing lasting repairs. The product has a shelf life of 900 days (approx. 2.5 years) before application, and the applied seal is designed for durable, long-term protection against water and moisture.

About this item

Gorilla Waterproof Patch & Seal Spray in black is imported to India for DIY projects and repairs. This flexible, rubberized coating effectively seals out water, air, and moisture, preventing leaks on various surfaces like metal, wood, and fabric. The controlled spray pattern ensures a clean, even coat that self-levels to cover small gaps and cracks, providing a durable, watertight seal. The spray dries quickly and is paintable with both latex and oil-based paints (use a primer for oil-based). It's designed for roofs, gutters, skylights, flashing, PVC pipe joints, and window sealant. While it works on many materials, test on plastics and rubbers first, as compatibility may vary. It is not intended for continuous submersion or below-waterline use.

For best results, clean and dry the surface thoroughly before application. Shake well and spray 8-12 inches away, applying multiple coats and allowing cure time between applications and before water exposure. Full cure is achieved in 24 hours. To prevent nozzle clogging, turn the can upside down and spray a short jet of clear gas after use. Apply in temperatures between 50°F and 120°F (10°C to 49°C).

Why choose this product

Reliable Sealing for Indian Conditions

Gorilla Waterproof Patch & Seal Spray offers a robust solution for common household leaks and moisture issues prevalent in India's diverse climate. Its flexible, rubberized coating creates a watertight barrier, preventing water ingress and air leaks effectively. Unlike some local alternatives that may degrade under harsh sun or humidity, this spray is engineered for temperature and UV resistance, ensuring long-lasting repairs. It adheres to a wide range of materials including metal, concrete, wood, and fabric, making it a versatile tool for homeowners tackling everything from roof repairs to sealing window frames. The controlled spray nozzle and self-leveling formula ensure an even coat that covers gaps and cracks smoothly, providing peace of mind against the elements.

Who It's For vs. Who Should Skip It

This spray is ideal for homeowners and DIY enthusiasts in India needing to seal leaks, cracks, and gaps on various surfaces like roofs, gutters, windows, and pipes. It's suitable for projects where a flexible, paintable, and weather-resistant seal is required. However, skip this product if you need a sealant for continuous submersion, below-waterline applications, or for sealing gaps larger than 1/4 inch (approx. 6mm). It may also not work on all types of plastics and rubbers, so testing on a small, inconspicuous area first is recommended. For very large gaps or underwater repairs, consider specialized epoxy or silicone sealants.

How to use

Prepare the Surface — Ensure the target area is completely clean, dry, and free from dirt, grease, or oil. For best adhesion, lightly sand surfaces if necessary. Test spray on a disposable object first.
Apply the Sealant — Shake the can well. Spray evenly from 8 to 12 inches away, holding the can upright. Apply multiple thin coats, allowing adequate cure time (typically 15-30 minutes) between each coat.
Cure and Test — Allow the sealant to fully cure for at least 24 hours before exposing it to water or paint. Perform a light water test to ensure all gaps are sealed; apply additional coats if needed.
Clean Up — To prevent nozzle clogging, turn the can upside down after use and spray a short burst of clear gas onto a disposable object until only gas comes out.

How we compare

Feature	Gorilla Waterproof Patch	Others
Waterproofing & Leak Sealing	Flexible rubberized coating seals out water, air, moisture. Self-levels to cover gaps up to 1/4 inch. Lasting repairs.	Varies by brand; some offer basic waterproofing but may lack flexibility or UV resistance. Local options often require more coats for similar coverage.
Application & Ease of Use	Controlled spray nozzle for even coat. Dries quickly, paintable. Full cure in 24 hours. Easy DIY application.	Many local sealants are brush-on or putty types, requiring more manual application. Spray options exist but may have less consistent patterns or cure times.
Durability & Resistance	Temperature (10°C-49°C) and UV resistant for lasting repairs. Flexible coating prevents cracking.	Local products may offer basic weather resistance but often lack specific UV or wide temperature range claims, potentially degrading faster in Indian climate extremes.
Surface Versatility	Works on metal, concrete, wood, fabric, glass, PVC. Test on plastics/rubbers.	General-purpose sealants are available, but specialized products for specific materials (e.g., concrete vs. fabric) might be needed locally.
