• READY FOR HAND-DYEING: While this undyed Tussah Silk has a beautiful golden honey color on its own, it takes dye very readily and produces rich jewel tones when overdyed.
• FELTING: Use in combination with wool to add softness, shine and exciting texture to your next felting project.
• SPINNING: This glossy golden silk is perfect for spinning pure silk yarn... or blended with virtually any other fiber — Avg. Staple Length: 5 inches (120mm).

• Prepare Lye Solution — Carefully measure your water and lye (sodium hydroxide) according to your soap recipe. Slowly add the lye to the water while stirring in a well-ventilated area. Allow the solution to cool to the appropriate temperature for your recipe.
• Incorporate Silk Fiber — Weigh out 1-2% of your total oil weight in Tussah silk fiber. Gently dissolve the silk fibers into the cooled lye solution. Stir until the silk is fully incorporated and appears to have dissolved, adding a subtle sheen.
• Proceed with Soap Making — Combine the silk-infused lye solution with your oils at the correct temperature. Mix to trace according to your recipe, then add any desired colorants or fragrances. Pour into mold and cure as usual.
