• Hardwood shell: The hardwood frame of this drum produces a smooth sustain along with great dynamic and tonal range (measures 7 1/2" X 2 1/4")
• Hand selected goat head: This hand drum is equipped with a goat skin head that provides warm and earthy tone
• Internal Lug tuning system: tuning lugs on the inside of the shell allow players to easily change the sound and tension of the drum
• Add cultural sounds: the unique timbre of the Kanji drum is designed for traditional South Indian styles but it may be used in contemporary music to add unexpected flavors

• Hold the Kanjira — Grip the frame drum comfortably with one hand, typically the left, ensuring your thumb and fingers can access the head and jingles. The drum should be held at an angle that allows for easy striking and manipulation.
• Tune the Head — Use the internal lug tuning system to adjust the tension of the goat skin head. Tighten lugs for higher pitch and tension; loosen for lower pitch and a more relaxed sound. Experiment to find your desired tone.
• Play Rhythms — Strike the goat skin head with your fingers and palm to create various percussive sounds. Use bending pitch techniques by applying pressure to the head with your thumb or fingers while striking to alter the note.
• Utilize Jingles — Incorporate the set of 3 jingles into your playing by striking the drum in a way that causes them to resonate. This adds a bright, shimmering accent to your rhythmic patterns, enhancing the overall sound.
