Authentic Tortoise Shell Alternative
Experience the legendary tone and feel of tortoise shell without the ethical concerns or inconsistencies. Planet Waves Cortex picks are precision molded from Ultem, a material engineered to replicate the sonic characteristics and tactile sensation of tortoise shell. This ensures a warm, clear tone with exceptional note definition and a smooth attack. Unlike natural materials that can vary, our picks offer consistent performance, gauge, and durability, providing a reliable choice for musicians seeking premium sound and feel.
Who Should Choose These Picks
Guitarists seeking a bright, articulate tone with a comfortable, flexible feel for strumming and lead playing will benefit most. Players who appreciate the classic sound of tortoise shell but want a durable, ethically sourced, and consistently performing alternative should consider these. Ideal for acoustic and electric guitars. Those who prefer very heavy gauge picks (over 1.0mm) or a completely matte finish might find lighter gauges or different materials more suitable.
