• Ensure Safety First — Turn off the power or gas supply to your water heater. Drain some water from the tank to relieve pressure and prevent scalding. Ensure you have the correct thread adapter if converting from NPT to BSP.
• Install the Valve — Remove the old relief valve. Apply pipe thread sealant to the threads of the new Camco valve (or adapter). Screw the valve into the water heater's T&P port, ensuring the extension probe is submerged in the water.
• Connect Discharge Pipe — Attach a discharge pipe to the valve's outlet. This pipe must run downwards to a safe drainage location, such as a floor drain or outside, and must not be capped or threaded at the end.
• Test and Restore — Slowly turn the water supply back on. Once the tank is full, restore power or gas to the water heater. Gently lift the test lever on the relief valve to ensure water discharges and then returns to a seal.
