Is this Blue Ridge Koi Growth Formula suitable for my small koi and goldfish in India?

Yes, this 36% protein Growth Formula is specifically designed for young koi and goldfish under 5 inches. The 1/8" mini pellets are easy to eat and digest, supporting vibrant colour and active growth. Feed according to water temperature, and store the resealable bag in a cool, dry place to maintain freshness in India's climate.

How does Blue Ridge Koi food support fish colour?

Reviewers consistently note brighter, more vibrant colouring in their fish over time. This is attributed to the balanced blend of vitamins, minerals, and brewer's yeast included in the formula, which supports overall fish health and enhances natural colouration.

What if my pond has mixed sizes of koi and goldfish?

This mini pellet formula is ideal for fish under 5 inches. For ponds with larger fish (over 5 inches) or a mix of sizes, it's recommended to pair this with Blue Ridge Koi's Large or Blend Growth Formula. This ensures every fish receives pellets appropriately sized for its mouth and digestive needs.

Can I feed this food year-round in India?

This Growth Formula is designed for warm seasons (above 65°F). When water temperatures drop below 50°F, it's recommended to switch to a cool-water formula like Blue Ridge Cool Water Wheat Formula for easier digestion. Using seasonal formulas is more beneficial than sticking to one food type year-round.

How long will a 5 lb bag of Blue Ridge Koi food last?

A 2.27 kg (5 lb) bag, when fed at an average of 10 grams per day, will last approximately 227 days. This makes it a cost-effective option for maintaining the health and growth of your young koi and goldfish over extended periods.

About this item

Blue Ridge Koi Growth Formula Mini Pellets provide essential nutrition for young koi and goldfish, specifically sized at 1/8" for fish under 5 inches. This 36% protein formula is designed for active growth in warmer water temperatures (above 65°F), promoting vibrant natural colours with added vitamins, minerals, and brewer's yeast. This warm-season formula should be switched to a cool-water formula when temperatures drop below 50°F.

Why choose this product

Generations of Koi Nutrition Expertise

Blue Ridge Koi has been a trusted name since 1958, with three generations dedicated to understanding koi and goldfish needs. This Growth Formula is a result of decades of hands-on experience, ensuring a balanced blend of 36% crude protein, vitamins, and minerals specifically for active warm-season growth. Unlike generic feeds, it's formulated to support vibrant natural colouration and easy digestion, with floating pellets that soften quickly. This commitment to quality means your fish receive optimal nutrition for health and vitality.

Ideal for Small Fish, But Consider Alternatives for Large Ponds

This mini pellet formula is perfect for fry, juveniles, and koi/goldfish under 5 inches. If your pond contains larger fish (over 5 inches) or a mix of sizes, you may need to supplement with Blue Ridge Koi's Large or Blend Growth Formula to ensure all fish get appropriately sized pellets. While excellent for its target audience, it's not designed as a sole food source for very large fish or for cold-water feeding below 50°F, where a specialized wheat-germ formula is recommended.

How to use

Check Water Temperature — Ensure your pond water is above 65°F (18°C) for optimal feeding. If between 50-65°F, feed once daily. Below 50°F, stop feeding this formula and switch to a cool-water specific food.
Portion and Feed — Feed only what your koi and goldfish can consume within approximately five minutes. Offer food 1-3 times daily when water is warm. Monitor feeding to avoid overfeeding and maintain water quality.
Ensure Easy Digestion — These pellets float and soften quickly. If fish are hesitant, soak pellets for 30-60 seconds before feeding or mix with their current food for the first week to aid adjustment.
Store for Freshness — After opening, reseal the bag tightly and store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. This prevents moisture absorption and maintains the food's nutritional integrity and freshness.
