Create Luminous Art Without Warping
Ampersand Aquabord 8x10 2" Cradled Panel provides a superior painting surface for watercolor and gouache artists in India. Its unique clay and mineral ground offers excellent absorbency and texture, similar to cold-press paper, enabling vibrant color saturation and controlled washes. Unlike traditional paper, this rigid panel withstands repeated washes, glazing, and lifting without pilling or swelling, allowing for detailed adjustments and clean highlights. The warp-resistant Hardbord core ensures the panel remains perfectly flat, eliminating the need for stretching, taping, or mounting, making it ideal for both studio and plein air work.
The Aquabord surface interacts with pigment at the surface, resulting in naturally bright and luminous watercolor effects. Artists can paint edge-to-edge without tape borders. Once sealed, artwork can be displayed without glass, offering a modern, glare-free presentation. The 2-inch cradled profile provides a finished look, ready to hang directly on the wall, and fits Ampersand Floaterframes. Each panel is protected with Archiva-Seal to prevent Support Induced Discoloration, ensuring archival quality.
This panel is acid-free and artist-safe, versatile for watercolor, gouache, ink, casein, acrylic washes, and mixed media. While local art boards may warp or require extensive priming, Ampersand Aquabord offers a consistent, durable, and archival surface. All customs duties and GST are included in the listed price, with tracked delivery via ExpressBox to your pincode.
Superior Watercolor Surface Science
Ampersand Aquabord utilizes a unique, highly absorbent clay and mineral ground applied directly to a rigid Hardbord panel. This formulation mimics the texture and absorbency of cold-press watercolor paper but offers superior performance. Pigment interacts at the surface, not within fibers, leading to naturally bright, luminous colors. The rigid core prevents warping, even with heavy water application, and the surface withstands repeated washes, glazes, and lifting without pilling or tearing. This advanced construction ensures consistent results and archival quality, a significant upgrade from traditional paper substrates or less rigid local alternatives.
Ideal For Indian Artists, Who Should Consider Alternatives
This panel is perfect for artists in India seeking a durable, warp-resistant surface for watercolor and gouache that performs exceptionally well in humid climates. Its rigidity prevents swelling and bowing common with paper or less robust boards. However, artists who prefer the tactile feel of traditional paper or require a very large, un-cradled surface for specific techniques might find other substrates more suitable. Those on a very tight budget might also consider basic primed hardboard panels, though they will lack the specialized absorbent ground and archival protection.
