What makes the AFW Bleeding Leader Wire effective for attracting fish?

The leader wire features a unique blood-red nylon coating that mimics actual blood, acting as a visual attractant for predatory fish, especially in top water conditions. This specialized color is designed to vanish in deeper water, reducing the chance of spooking fish while maintaining its effectiveness.

Is this leader wire suitable for all types of fish in India?

This leader wire is ideal for all types of toothy fish due to its strong stainless steel construction and abrasion resistance. While effective for predatory species, it may be overkill for non-toothy fish where lighter, more invisible leaders might suffice.

What is the breaking strength and length of this leader wire?

The AFW Bleeding Leader Wire has a breaking strength of 15 pounds (6.8 kg) and comes in a 30-foot (9.14 meters) length, providing ample material for multiple fishing rigs.

Can I use this leader wire with standard fishing knots?

Yes, this leader wire can be tied directly using standard fishing knots. Alternatively, for a more secure and robust connection, you can use American Fishing Wire Crimp Sleeve size 2.

How does the red color perform in different water depths?

In top water fishing conditions, the red color is highly visible and mimics blood to attract fish. As water depth increases, the red color spectrum is filtered out faster than other colors, causing it to 'vanish' to the fish, making it less likely to spook them.

What are the advantages of tungsten fishing sinkers over standard lead weights?

Tungsten is significantly denser than lead, resulting in a smaller physical profile for the same weight to penetrate cover easily, while providing crisper tactile feedback when bumping against underwater structures.

Is this leader wire suitable for saltwater fishing in India?

Yes, the 1x7 stainless steel construction with nylon coating makes this leader wire suitable for saltwater fishing, offering resistance to corrosion and protection against the sharp teeth of many predatory saltwater species found in Indian waters.

Why choose this product

Engineered for Maximum Fish Attraction

The AFW Bleeding Leader Wire's innovative blood-red color is scientifically designed to mimic natural prey, triggering aggressive strikes from predatory fish. Unlike standard leaders, this unique visual cue works effectively in both shallow and deeper water conditions where red light spectrums are filtered. This specialized design, sourced from authorized US retailers, offers a distinct advantage over generic leaders, enhancing your chances of a successful catch. The durable nylon coating over high-strength 1x7 stainless steel ensures it stands up to the toughest fights, making it a reliable choice for serious anglers.

Who It's For vs. Who Should Skip It

This leader wire is perfect for anglers targeting toothy species like barracuda, kingfish, mackerel, and pike, where line-bite is a common problem. It's also beneficial for anglers seeking an edge with a unique visual attractant. Anglers primarily fishing for non-toothy species or those who prefer a completely invisible leader in all water depths might find the red color less critical. If you require leaders for extremely light tackle applications where minimal visibility is paramount, consider clear monofilament or fluorocarbon leaders instead.

How to use

Prepare the Leader — Cut approximately 1 to 3 feet of AFW Bleeding Leader Wire from the 30-foot spool. The exact length depends on the target species and fishing conditions; shorter for toothy fish, longer for stealth.
Attach to Main Line — Securely tie the leader wire to your main fishing line using a reliable knot such as a Blood Knot or Albright Knot. Alternatively, use an American Fishing Wire Crimp Sleeve size 2 for a crimped connection.
Attach Lure or Terminal Tackle — Tie your chosen fishing lure, jig, or hook to the other end of the leader wire using a suitable knot (e.g., improved clinch knot) or crimp sleeve. Ensure all connections are tight and secure before casting.
