How do I clean my K&N oiled air filter?

To clean your K&N oiled air filter, first spray Power Kleen degreaser onto the filter and let it sit. Then, rinse thoroughly with water. Allow the filter to air dry completely before applying fresh K&N Red Filter Oil. This four-step process restores the filter's performance and airflow efficiency.

Can I use household dish soap or general degreasers instead of K&N cleaner?

Dedicated K&N Power Kleen utilizes specialized surfactants designed to dissolve filter oil and soot without damaging the cotton gauze fibers or polyurethane sealing edges. Generic cleaners may not be as effective or could potentially degrade the filter material, impacting its performance and lifespan.

How much K&N Red Filter Oil should I apply?

Apply a light, continuous bead of K&N Red Filter Oil along the peak of each pleat until an even color is achieved across the filter media. Allow about 20 to 30 minutes for the oil to fully wick before reinstalling the filter. Avoid over-oiling, which can affect airflow and potentially contaminate sensors.

What is the best K&N air filter cleaning kit?

The K&N Air Filter Cleaning Kit, featuring Power Kleen degreaser and K&N Red Filter Oil, is considered the best for maintaining K&N oiled filters. It effectively removes build-up and restores performance, ensuring optimal airflow and contaminant capture.

Are K&N filter cleaners healthy?

K&N Power Kleen is formulated as a degreaser and solvent. While generally considered safe when used as directed, it is a corrosive liquid and a health hazard. Avoid prolonged skin contact and ensure good ventilation during use. Keep out of reach of children.

How to use

Apply Power Kleen — Generously spray K&N Power Kleen onto both sides of the air filter, ensuring full coverage of the filter media to break down dirt and old oil.
Rinse and Dry — Rinse the filter thoroughly with cool water, working from the clean side to the dirty side. Allow the filter to air dry completely, away from direct heat or sunlight.
