How do I use the 3M Ultra Headlight Restoration Kit?

Clean the headlight lens thoroughly. Apply masking tape around the lens edge. Wet sand with 500 grit discs, then 800 grit, followed by 3000 grit. Wipe clean and dry. Apply the UV protectant wax evenly and allow to cure. For severe oxidation, use with a drill.

Will this kit work on my car's plastic lenses in India?

Yes, this kit is designed for plastic lenses like headlights, taillights, and fog lights on most vehicles. The included UV protectant is crucial for Indian climates, shielding against intense sun and preventing rapid re-hazing.

How long does the restored clarity last?

The longevity depends on application and environmental factors. The included UV protectant helps maintain clarity for an extended period, significantly longer than polish-only solutions. Regular cleaning and avoiding harsh chemicals will further preserve the results.

Can I use this kit on glass headlights?

No, this kit is specifically formulated for plastic lenses. Using it on glass headlights may not yield the desired results and could potentially damage the glass surface.

What is the difference between this kit and a polish-only product?

This kit includes a multi-stage abrasive system (sanding discs) to remove heavy oxidation, followed by a UV protectant. Polish-only products typically only address light haze and lack the long-term protection against sun damage.

Why choose this product

Advanced 3M Abrasive Technology

3M's specialized abrasive discs are engineered to effectively remove yellowing and haze from plastic lenses without causing damage. This system ensures a smooth, clear finish that enhances light output and vehicle appearance. The included UV protectant provides a crucial barrier against the intense Indian sun, prolonging the restored clarity far longer than simple polishes.

Ideal for Indian Driving Conditions

This kit is perfect for car owners in India facing harsh sunlight and dusty roads that accelerate headlight oxidation. It's best suited for those with moderately to severely yellowed or hazy plastic headlights, taillights, or fog lights. If your lenses are already cracked or severely pitted, professional replacement might be a better option, but for haze and yellowing, this kit offers a significant visual and functional upgrade.

How to use

Prepare the Lens — Clean the headlight lens thoroughly with soap and water. Dry completely. Apply masking tape around the edges of the lens to protect the surrounding paintwork.
Sand Away Haze — Using water, wet sand the lens with the 500 grit discs, followed by the 800 grit discs. Then, use the 3000 grit refining disc for a smooth finish. Wipe the lens clean and dry between stages.
Apply UV Protectant — Apply the 3M Quick Headlight Clear Coat (UV Wax Protectant) evenly across the lens surface. Allow it to cure as per instructions, typically 15-30 minutes, to seal and protect.
