This is because carbon brushes are wear items, meaning that through friction and use they will gradually wear away until they need replacing. Worn brushes are a common causes of intermittent motor function, reduced electric braking and reduced motor power. A worn-out brush will often be worn down near to the wire lead and can be cracked, pitted, or burned.

• Safety First: Disconnect Power — Ensure the DeWalt saw is unplugged from the power source. This is a critical safety step to prevent accidental startup while you are working on the motor.
• Access and Remove Old Brushes — Locate the carbon brush covers on the motor housing (refer to your saw's manual). Carefully remove the covers and then extract the old, worn brushes, noting their orientation and spring mechanism.
• Install New TUAIC Brushes — Insert the new TUAIC carbon brushes into their respective slots, ensuring they are seated correctly and the springs are properly engaged. Reinstall the brush covers securely.
• Test Motor Function — Plug the saw back in and test the motor. It should now run smoothly with consistent power and effective electric braking, indicating a successful replacement.
