Sustainability
One Order. One Tree. One Planet.
Every time you shop with us, we plant a tree on your behalf. Together, we have planted over 50,000 trees across India — with a goal of 100,000 by end of 2026.
Part of our broader sustainability commitment, the 1 Order, 1 Tree programme is our way of making every purchase on CrowCrowCrow contribute to something that outlasts the product itself. We are building the infrastructure to let you track your tree over time — personal certificates and a tree-tracker dashboard are on the roadmap.
Our impact
These figures are based on partner-reported data and internal tracking. CO₂ offset calculations use an industry-standard estimate of ~22 kg CO₂ per tree per year — actual absorption varies by species, geography, tree age, and survival rate. Independent third-party verification is planned as the programme scales.
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Trees planted (reported) | ~50,000+ |
| Contributing orders | ~100,000+ |
| Planting locations | Multiple states in India |
| COâ‚‚ offset (estimated*) | ~1,100+ tons |
| Target | Timeline |
|---|---|
| 100,000 trees | End of 2026 |
| 500,000 trees | End of 2027 |
*COâ‚‚ estimates are aspirational figures based on partner reports and standard forestry data. These figures have not been independently audited or verified by a third-party environmental certifier.
How it works
The process is seamless — you do not need to opt in, fill a form, or pay anything extra. Every confirmed order automatically triggers a tree commitment.
- 1
You place any order
Any order on CrowCrowCrow qualifies — regardless of order value or product category.
- 2
We commit to one tree
We commit to plant one tree on your behalf as part of our programme.
- 3
Partner organisations plant
Our verified partner organisations plant native trees at approved sites across India.
- 4
Trees grow and absorb carbon
Planted trees are cared for through establishment, absorbing COâ‚‚ and restoring local forest cover.
- 5
You receive confirmation
Personal planting confirmation and tree certificates are coming soon — expected Q2 2026.
This is our commitment. You don't pay anything extra.
The cost of tree planting is absorbed entirely by CrowCrowCrow. It is not added to your order total and there is no separate opt-in required.
Where we plant
We plant across multiple Indian states, choosing locations and species based on local ecological need and partner expertise.
| State | Focus area |
|---|---|
| Maharashtra | Western Ghats restoration |
| Rajasthan | Arid land reforestation |
| Karnataka | Biodiversity corridors |
| Uttar Pradesh | Gangetic plain greening |
| More regions coming |
Tree species we plant
We prioritise native Indian species in every region. Native trees have better survival rates, support local wildlife, are adapted to local climate, and carry cultural significance.
| Type | Examples |
|---|---|
| Native species | Neem, Peepal, Banyan, Mango |
| Fruit trees | Amla, Guava, Custard Apple |
| Timber (sustainable) | Teak, Bamboo |
| Flowering | Gulmohar, Amaltas |
From seedling to forest
Our partners report approximately 80%+ survival rates through proper multi-year care. This figure is based on partner-reported data and may vary by location and season. Independent verification of survival rates is being explored as part of our future transparency initiatives.
| Stage | Timeline | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Seed collection | Year-round | Native seeds gathered from local sources |
| Nursery | 3–6 months | Seedlings grown under controlled conditions |
| Planting | Monsoon season | Trees planted at approved sites |
| Early care | Year 1–2 | Regular watering and protection from grazing |
| Establishment | Year 2–5 | Trees become self-sufficient |
| Maturity | Year 5+ | Full carbon absorption, canopy formed |
Why trees matter
India loses significant forest cover every year to deforestation, urbanisation, and agricultural expansion. Native tree planting directly addresses several of the country's most pressing environmental challenges.
Carbon absorption
Each tree absorbs ~22 kg CO₂ per year — our 50,000+ trees offset an estimated 1,100+ tons of CO₂ annually.
Water conservation
Forests protect watersheds and support groundwater recharge in water-stressed regions.
Biodiversity
Native trees create habitat corridors for birds, insects, and wildlife that monoculture plantations cannot.
Climate cooling
Tree canopy reduces local temperatures through shade and transpiration.
Rainfall patterns
Dense forest cover influences regional rainfall cycles and reduces drought risk.
Soil protection
Root systems prevent soil erosion and restore fertility to degraded land.
Planting partners
We choose partner organisations carefully. Our selection criteria ensure trees are actually planted, cared for, and documented — not just promised.
| Partner type | Role |
|---|---|
| Reforestation NGOs | Large-scale planting projects with established track records |
| Community groups | Local forest maintenance and community stewardship |
| Farmers | Agroforestry programmes integrating trees with agricultural land |
| Government programmes | Forest department coordination for approved planting zones |
| Partner requirement | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Verified organisations | Ensures trees are actually planted, not just committed |
| Native species focus | Better ecological outcomes than exotic species plantations |
| Community involvement | Local ownership means trees are protected long-term |
| Long-term care commitment | Trees survive and thrive past the vulnerable first two years |
Beyond trees — community impact
Our planting programme creates ripple effects beyond carbon absorption. The communities where we plant benefit economically and socially from the programme.
Employment
Planting and long-term maintenance creates rural jobs in partner regions.
Farmer income
Agroforestry programs let farmers integrate fruit and timber trees with their crops for additional income.
Education
Partner organisations run environmental awareness programs in local schools and communities.
Women empowerment
Several partner nurseries are women-led, giving women ownership of seedling production.
| Long-term economic benefit | Description |
|---|---|
| Fruit trees | Future income from harvest for participating farmers |
| Timber (long-term) | Sustainable forestry income from responsibly managed timber species |
| Eco-tourism | Restored green spaces attract visitors and support local livelihoods |
Transparency & reporting
We are committed to being honest about what we know and what we don't. Below is how we currently track plantings, and what is coming.
| Tracking method | Details |
|---|---|
| Partner reports | Monthly planting updates from each partner organisation |
| GPS coordinates | Location data for select planting sites |
| Photo documentation | Visual proof of planting from ground teams |
| Third-party verification | Annual audits (planned as programme scales) |
| Feature | Description | Expected |
|---|---|---|
| Personal tree certificate | Digital certificate for every tree planted in your name | Q2 2026 |
| Tree tracker | See where your tree was planted on a map | Q3 2026 |
| Impact dashboard | Your cumulative COâ‚‚ offset and forest contribution over time | Q4 2026 |
We are building transparency into this programme from the ground up — not as a marketing afterthought, but as an operating standard.
Your contribution
Every order you place contributes one tree to India's forests. There is no minimum order value, no separate checkout step, and no opt-in required. The more you shop, the more trees grow.

Frequently asked questions
No. Tree planting is included in every order at no extra cost. This is our commitment — you simply shop as usual.
We work with verified partner organisations and publish regular updates. We track plantings via partner reports, GPS coordinates (select sites), and photo documentation. Personal tree certificates for each order are coming in Q2 2026.
Currently, trees are planted based on partner project locations. Location-specific planting may be available in future as our programme expands.
Trees are planted during optimal seasons — usually monsoon. Orders are pooled for efficient, season-appropriate planting with our partner organisations.
Native Indian species selected for each region — such as Neem, Peepal, Mango, Banyan, Amla, Guava, Gulmohar, and Teak. Native species have better survival rates and stronger ecological impact than exotic alternatives.
Trees help offset carbon — our estimated ~1,100+ tons CO₂ offset is based on ~22 kg per tree per year (industry-standard estimate). We're also working on other initiatives to reduce our overall operational footprint. We do not claim purchases are fully carbon-neutral.
All tree planting figures, COâ‚‚ offset estimates, and environmental impact data are based on reports from our planting partners and internal tracking. These figures have not been independently audited or verified by a third-party environmental certifier. COâ‚‚ offset calculations use industry-standard estimates (~22 kg COâ‚‚ per tree per year) which vary significantly based on species, geography, tree age, and survival rates. Our tree planting programme is an aspirational initiative and does not constitute a certified carbon offset programme. Future targets and timelines are aspirational goals and not guaranteed commitments. CrowCrowCrow makes no representation that purchases are 'carbon neutral' or 'environmentally offset.' We are committed to transparency and plan to pursue independent verification as our programme scales.
