What angle countersink bit do I need for my screws?

The angle should match your screw head. Imperial flat-head wood screws typically use an 82° countersink, while many metric screws use 90°. This Utoolmart bit is designed for precise flat-bottomed holes, suitable for various woodworking applications where the screw head needs to sit flush or below the surface.

Will this 80mm Forstner bit fit my drill?

This Utoolmart Forstner drill bit features a 10mm (0.39-inch) hex shank, which fits securely in standard quick-change chucks and impact drivers. Ensure your drill's chuck can accommodate this shank size for optimal performance and safety during operation.

Can I use this Utoolmart drill bit for metal?

No, this Utoolmart Forstner drill bit is specifically designed for drilling holes in wood, density boards, pressed boards, plastics, and hard woods. It is not suitable for cutting metal holes and attempting to do so can damage the bit and pose a safety risk.

How do I ensure clean holes with this Forstner bit?

To achieve clean holes, ensure the wood is free of nails or metal objects. Maintain a vertical angle with the workpiece, drill slowly, and clean sawdust promptly. Applying rust oil after use will also help maintain the bit's sharpness and extend its service life.

How to choose drill bits for woodworking in India?

For woodworking in India, choose bits suited for local wood types and common hardware. Forstner bits like this Utoolmart 80mm model are excellent for precise, flat-bottomed holes needed for hinges and locks. Ensure the bit material (like cemented carbide) is durable for your wood hardness and that the shank type matches your drill.

Are drill bits safe to use?

Drill bits are generally safe when used correctly with appropriate safety gear. Always wear eye protection, ensure the bit is securely clamped in the drill, and follow the manufacturer's instructions for material compatibility and drilling technique. This Utoolmart bit requires careful handling, especially when drilling into wood.

Why choose this product

Engineered for Clean Wood Perforation

This Utoolmart Forstner drill bit is engineered for precision woodworking. Its cemented carbide tip and 45# steel body provide the hardness and sharpness needed for clean, burr-free holes in various wood types, density boards, and plastics. The arc curve design ensures efficient chip removal, preventing overheating and clogging. It's perfect for installing hardware like hinges and locks, or creating precise openings for woodworking projects. Imported for quality assurance, it offers a reliable alternative to locally sourced bits that may lack consistent sharpness or durability.

Ideal for Woodworking, Skip for Metal

This bit is perfect for DIY enthusiasts and professionals working with density boards, pressed boards, plastics, and hard woods. It's designed for use with bench drills, hand-held electric drills, and impact drills. However, it is strictly not for cutting metal holes. Always ensure the wood is free of nails or metal objects before drilling to prevent damage. Forstner bits are specialized tools; ensure your project requires precise, flat-bottomed holes rather than general drilling.

How to use

Secure the Bit — Insert the 10mm hex shank firmly into your drill's chuck. Ensure it is securely clamped to prevent slippage during operation. Confirm the drill is set to the appropriate speed for the material.
Position and Drill — Mark your drilling point and position the bit vertically. Start drilling slowly, allowing the carbide tip to engage the material. Maintain steady pressure and a consistent angle for a clean hole.
Clear Chips and Finish — Periodically withdraw the bit while it's still rotating to clear sawdust and prevent clogging. Continue drilling until the desired depth is reached. Clean the bit and apply rust oil after use for longevity.

How we compare

Feature	Utoolmart 80mm Forstner	Others
Cutting Material	Cemented Carbide tip with 45# Steel body for durability and sharpness.	Varies by brand; some local bits may use lower-grade steel or less durable carbide, leading to faster wear.
Hole Quality	Designed for clean, flat-bottomed holes with minimal burrs due to sharp carbide tip and efficient chip removal.	Local bits may produce rougher holes or more burrs, requiring additional finishing work.
Shank Type	10mm Hex Shank for secure grip in impact drivers and quick-change chucks.	May offer round shanks or less standardized hex shanks, potentially leading to slippage.
Durability & Lifespan	Heat-treated carbide tip and robust steel body offer extended service life with proper maintenance.	Lifespan can be shorter for locally manufactured bits, especially with harder woods or improper use.
