What is the difference between cold press and hot press watercolor paper?

Cold press paper has a lightly textured, semi-rough surface that suits most watercolor techniques and washes, while hot press paper is smooth and works well for fine detail, ink lines, and controlled blending. Choose based on the effect and level of texture you want in your finished work.

What paper weight should I choose for watercolor painting?

Weights are shown in GSM or lb. Around 300gsm (140lb) is a widely used standard that handles wet washes with minimal buckling, while lighter sheets suit quick studies and sketching. Match the weight to how much water your technique uses.

Is Fuxi 9" x 12" sketch paper suitable for watercolor?

This Fuxi sketch paper is 100 gsm and best suited for dry media like pencils and charcoal. For watercolor, especially with heavy washes, it may buckle. Artists in India seeking watercolor paper should look for heavier, specifically designed watercolor pads (300gsm or higher).

Can I use Fuxi sketchbooks for ink drawings?

Yes, the smooth 100 gsm paper in Fuxi sketchbooks is suitable for ink pens and markers, provided you use them with a light touch. For heavy ink applications or brush pens that lay down a lot of ink, consider a thicker paper to prevent bleed-through.

How many sheets are in each Fuxi sketchbook?

Each Fuxi 9" x 12" sketchbook contains 100 sheets of drawing paper. With a pack of four sketchbooks, you receive a total of 400 sheets for your drawing and sketching projects.

Are Fuxi sketchbooks acid-free?

Yes, Fuxi sketchbooks feature 100 gsm acid-free drawing paper. This ensures that your artwork will not yellow or degrade over time, preserving the quality and color of your sketches and drawings.
