What head size and weight should a beginner choose in a tennis racquet?

Beginners generally do well with a larger head size around 105-110 square inches and a lighter frame, which makes it easier to generate power and hit within the sweet spot. This AMA SPORT 19-inch racket has an 80 sq in head and weighs about 6.4 oz, ideal for toddlers and young children starting out.

How do I know the right grip size for a tennis racquet?

Grip size is listed in inches (for example 4 1/4 or 4 3/8) and reflects the circumference of the handle. This AMA SPORT racket features a 4-inch grip, suitable for very small hands. A common check is to hold the racquet and confirm you can fit one finger between your fingertips and palm; if between sizes, a smaller grip can be built up with an overgrip.

Is this AMA SPORT tennis racket suitable for use in India?

Yes, this AMA SPORT 19-inch tennis racket is suitable for use in India. It's designed for beginners and comes with a shoulder strap bag for easy transport to local courts or parks. The lightweight aluminum construction is durable for casual play.

What is the difference between this AMA SPORT racket and local Indian brands?

AMA SPORT rackets are designed with a focus on the ITF “PLAY + STAY” philosophy for easier learning, featuring a lightweight aluminum frame and a forgiving sweet spot. Local Indian brands may offer similar beginner rackets, but AMA SPORT's specific design aims to simplify the initial stages of tennis for young children.

How do I choose a tennis racket for my child?

For young children, prioritize a lightweight racket that's easy to swing. The AMA SPORT 19-inch racket is designed for toddlers and beginners, with a smaller head size (80 sq in) and a 4-inch grip. Ensure the racket's length is appropriate for your child's height; 19 inches is typically for ages 4-6.

Does this racket come strung?

Yes, the AMA SPORT 19-inch tennis racket comes pre-strung with a string tension of 35-40 LBS, making it ready for play right out of the box. This is ideal for beginners who don't need to worry about stringing services immediately.
