• Prepare Your Dye Bath — For stove-top dyeing, fill a stainless-steel sink or pot with enough hot water to cover your fabric. Add the entire 7 oz (198 ml) bottle of Frost Gray dye and stir well to dissolve. For washing machine dyeing, use a plastic container or stainless-steel sink and add the dye to hot water.
• Dye Your Fabric — Pre-wash your fabric to remove any finishes or sizing. Submerge the damp fabric into the dye bath, ensuring it is fully saturated. Stir gently and continuously for at least 30 minutes to ensure even color penetration and prevent spotting. Maintain hot water temperature.
• Set the Color — After dyeing, rinse the fabric in cold water until the water runs clear. For permanent color, it's recommended to set the dye with heat. You can iron the fabric on a hot setting (without steam) for several minutes or run it through a hot wash cycle in the washing machine.
• Wash and Finish — Wash the dyed item in hot water with a mild detergent. Rinse again in cold water. For best colorfastness, wash separately for the first few washes. Clean your dyeing equipment immediately after use with detergent and hot water.
