How do I use the Normcore 53.3mm Puck Screen?

Place the Normcore 53.3mm Puck Screen directly on top of your tamped coffee grounds within your 54mm portafilter before attaching it to your espresso machine. This helps ensure even water distribution for a better extraction.

Will this puck screen fit my coffee maker?

This Normcore puck screen is specifically designed for 54mm portafilters. Please verify your portafilter size before purchasing. It is not compatible with other sizes or with traditional filter coffee makers.

Does a stainless steel mesh filter change the taste of coffee?

A fine stainless steel micro-mesh like this one allows natural coffee oils to pass through, which can result in a fuller-bodied espresso compared to paper filters. Using a medium-coarse grind helps prevent fine sediment from entering your cup.

How do I clean the Normcore Puck Screen?

After each use, simply rinse the puck screen thoroughly with water. Hand washing is recommended to maintain its integrity and ensure longevity. It is designed to be highly durable and corrosion-resistant.

Is this puck screen worth it compared to paper filters?

Yes, the Normcore puck screen is a worthwhile investment. It replaces the need for disposable paper filters, saving you money over time and reducing waste. Its consistent performance also leads to better espresso extraction, making each shot more enjoyable.

Can I use this puck screen daily?

Absolutely. The 316 stainless steel construction is food-grade, durable, and corrosion-resistant, making it safe for daily use. Proper rinsing after each use will ensure its longevity and performance.

What are the benefits of using a puck screen?

Puck screens help reduce channeling by evening out water flow, protect your brew head from coffee grounds, and can lead to more consistent espresso extraction. They also eliminate the need for paper filters, making your coffee routine more sustainable.

How to choose a coffee filter for espresso?

For espresso, consider a reusable metal filter like this puck screen for consistency and durability. Ensure it matches your portafilter size (54mm in this case) and has a fine mesh (200 microns) to prevent sediment while allowing oils for body.

Why choose this product

Precision Espresso Extraction

The Normcore Ultra-Slim Puck Screen is engineered for baristas seeking ultimate control over their espresso. Its precise 200-micron filtration and 0.2mm thickness ensure uniform water distribution across the coffee puck. This minimizes channeling, a common issue that leads to uneven extraction and bitter shots. By promoting a more cohesive flow, it helps unlock the full flavor potential of your coffee beans, delivering a richer, more balanced espresso. This imported accessory is a small but significant upgrade for any home coffee setup aiming for café-quality results.

Ideal for Indian Baristas, Not for Paper Filter Users

This puck screen is perfect for home baristas in India who use 54mm portafilters and want to improve their espresso consistency and reduce cleaning time. It's ideal for those looking to move away from disposable paper filters. However, if you prefer the convenience of pre-made coffee pods or use a portafilter size other than 54mm, this specific screen will not fit your setup. It is also not designed for brewing filter coffee using traditional South Indian filter methods.
